Why We Do It
Compared to metropolitan areas or first-world countries, rural parts of India do not have access to many luxuries due to financial struggles, one of them being libraries. Books are a very important thing in a child's life and learning to read when a child is young is a very crucial part of a child's education. Research shows that a child without basic literacy skill such as reading short stories or words are 3 to 4 times more likely to drop out of school later on, ending their education then and there. Organizations such as Wachaki look to change this and create a better future for those kids that do not have access to libraries by providing free books to read and enjoy, increasing their chances of being successful later on in life! Health is also a major issue in these rural regions where there isn't enough healthcare workers or money to support the disabled. Although this fact may be true, there are numerous organizations hard at work to help counteract that and we have pledged our support to them!
